News Advisory - Charlotte Mecklenburg missing woman
Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announced that the Sheriff's Department is currently working with the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department on the investigation into Nikki Mcphatter's whereabouts. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Ms. Mcphatter is a missing person from Charlotte North Carolina and law enforcement is searching for clues as to what may have happened to her. The Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department has released that they believe foul play is involved.
Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the victim was believed to be driving a black in color 2003 4-door Honda Accord with North Carolina Tag 'PHATTAH' traveling south toward Columbia, South Carolina. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that the victim was in Columbia on May 6, 2009 - investigators have spoken with people that saw her on May 6, 2009 around 1:30 PM in Columbia.
Sheriff Leon Lott added that investigators know that on May 6, 2009, around 6:00 PM, at 8800 Farrow Road, a black male wearing a white t-shirt with "staff" written on the back is known to have attempted to use the victim's credit cards at the ATM machine. Sheriff Leon Lott stated that from the video surveillance footage it appears that the suspect was in gold in color 4-door vehicle at the ATM machine.
Sheriff Leon Lott added that there is a further rise for concern because:
- The victim has had no family contact since May 6, 2009
- The victim is well established in her community and this behavior is not characteristic
- She and her car are still missing
Sheriff Leon Lott states that anyone with information on the identity of those responsible for using the credit cards or the victim's location is asked to call, email or text your anonymous tip to Crimestoppers.
