Robbers attack cab driver, pedestrian

Richland County authorities are looking for two pairs of suspects in overnight robbery attempts, on involving a shooting.

Just after midnight, a cab driver was attacked by two men who presented a gun and told the driver to put his hands up, the Richland County Sheriff's Department said.

Instead, the cab driver sped off, and one of the men fired shots into the air. The cab driver said the men were wearing winter coats and hats.

Around 2:30 a.m.: a person walking down Alpine Road was accosted by two men who jumped out of white Nissan. One of the men shot the victim in the lower body, then he and his accomplice took an unknown amount of money and fled, the sheriff's department said.

The victim was taken by a fourth person to Palmetto Health Richland. The person's condition was not immediately known.
